These pumpkins take less than 30 minutes and they are a must-have for Fall this year! Pumpkins are my top sellers every year. The possibilities are endless. You can dress the pumpkin up with ribbon, twine, faux leather stems, raffia or my favorite, cinnamon sticks!

Let’s get started!

Pumpkin
Starting from the bottom and working up to the top. The pumpkin will be worked in hdc sts.
Rnd 1: hdc 8 in mc (8 sts)
Rnd 2: inc x 8 (16 sts)
Rnd 3: [hdc, inc] x 8 (24 sts)
Rnd 4: [3 hdc, inc] x 6 (30 sts)
Rnd 5-8: hdc in each st (30 sts) •• 4 rnds ••
Rnd 9: [3 hdc, dec] x 6 (24 sts)
Rnd 10: [1 hdc, dec] x 8 (16 sts)
*Start stuffing
Rnd 11: dec x 8 (8 sts)

Sl st and cut yarn. Hide the tail inside and stuff the pumpkin. Cut a scrap piece of worsted weight yarn in a coordinating color approximately 36” long. Weave the scrap yarn in and out every couple of sts on rnd 11 at the top of the pumpkin to cinch. Repeat a couple times, then gently pull both strands to begin closing while leaving a small hole for a cinnamon stick or faux leather stem. If you are using a cinnamon stick, go ahead and place one in the top. Once the cinnamon stick is in place, continue pulling the yarn to cinch the hole around the center. Tie the yarn in a triple knot to secure and hide inside the pumpkin. The hole should be snug against the cinnamon stick but not too tight.

Tie some twine, ribbon or raffia to the cinnamon stick and you are finished!

** I do not like to use hot glue to permanently secure the cinnamon stick because I like to have the option to replace the stick once the scent fades. It is also easier to store away without the stick so it doesn’t break and make a mess all over the pumpkin. This is personal preference.

If you would rather use faux leather for the stem, I like to cut a piece approximately 4.5” tall x .75” wide for this size pumpkin. Punch a small hole in each end of the leather strip just big enough for your yarn needle and yarn to go through.

Take the yarn needle with the scrap yarn still threaded and go through one end of the leather, fold in half and go through the other hole on the leather and come out of rnd 11. Weave the yarn around rnd 11 a few times to ensure the hole stays closed. Pull the hole snug but not too tight. Tie the yarn in a triple knot to secure and hide inside the pumpkin.

Your pumpkin is finished!
