Elephant Huggie

***You can purchase an INEXPENSIVE AD-FREE PDF of this pattern on Etsy or Ravelry!  This beautifully designed PDF includes pictures with the pattern and is a total of 11 pages!

Pattern Description:
Crochet this precious elephant huggie with worsted weight yarn or you may choose to make a larger version by using a bulky yarn and coordinating hook. This elephant huggie works up quickly and is my go-to gift for baby showers or toddler birthdays. The specific yarn I used for this example is Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn. WeCrochet Comfy Worsted or Lion Brand Heartland would be a good substitute. These are just my personal preferences.

Notes:
Although this is an advanced beginner pattern, some amigurumi experience would be helpful. However, reach out with any questions or concerns. Please read through the entire pattern before starting your design. This pattern is written in US terminology. It is made in continuous rounds. Do not ch1 or sl st at the end of each round unless instructed to do so. Place a stitch marker in the first stitch of each round. Stitch count is in ( ) at the end of each row. Make sure your count is correct before moving to the next round.

Pattern Overview:
The pattern is considered to be low sew. The arms are attached as you crochet the head. I highly suggest weaving in those ends as you go on the blanket. It is just one less thing to do at the end. Of course, this is personal preference. My least favorite part about making lovey blankets or huggies is sewing the blanket portion to the head of the animal and making sure it is centered. I usually redo that part at LEAST one time. Haha! Who’s with me?! When I designed this pattern, I wanted to make it as easy as possible to attach. There are tips included in the pattern to help assemble with ease. Once you are finished attaching the blanket, all that remains are the ears, trunk and eyes (unless you choose to use safety eyes). The color options are endless. You could make the entire huggie one color, change colors every round on the blanket or maybe try a variegated yarn. Adding little elements would be super cute too. Maybe add a little bow or flowers, taking care to secure those extra snug for littles.

This pattern would be perfect for:
• Baby Shower Gift
• Toddler Gift
• Craft Shows or Markets
• Newborn Photo Prop
• Nursery Decor

The Elephant Huggie pattern was updated 3/17/23. If you purchased this listing prior to 3/17/23, message me and I'll email you the updated version. The main update is the blanket portion is now crocheted onto the head as you go, like my other huggie patterns.
